rewarding incompetence

so today, I feel compelled to blog about my extreme dislike for how incompetence is often rewarded in a corporate environment. how do people get away with this? he/she claims to "not" be able to do something for x, y, and z lame excuses ("I don't understaaaannnddd", and then, the boss, rather than show the lame-o interloper the ropes or ask the person to actually USE his/her brain, decides to 1) do the work him/herself or 2)pawn it off to an unassuming department that is willing to help out. That's is where I fit in. The unassuming department who technically shouldn't be involved in such a petty matter, but offers to help. Well, I will tell you, I'm on to the game and I have started to point out that 1) calling a vendor to get a sales contact isn't that difficult and 2) doesn't that sound like something the administrative assistant should do? But alas....corporate America. too hard to fire someone, too easy to pawn off work to other people, and too many suckers like me who end up bearing the brunt of the work because of an extremely strong work ethic and drive to GET THINGS DONE. it's just not that hard, people!
