leftovers. here are my thoughts on the matter. by definition, they are something that you once enjoyed (hopefully) and have brought home, stuck in you refrigerator, and may or may not eat again at some point in the future. leftovers have a limited shelf life. often times, if you do decide to go there again, you have to add some heat to make them worthwhile. with very few exceptions, such as pizza. leftovers are generally tossed away, and do not last forever.
now, the question becomes, if asked, are you willing to share your leftovers with your friends? well, there are only two options here - share, or don't share.
Share. 1) if the leftovers are from a long time ago, you may hand them off to your friend with fair warning -- hey, these are really old, you *might* not want to eat them. 2) these leftovers didn't sit well with me the first time, but you are welcome to try.
Don't share. 1) if the leftovers were delicious, you might want to just keep them for yourself. mine, mine, mine. 2) if you don't think your friend will like the leftovers, you might discourage said friend from trying (which, in said case, you should have never offered in the first place) 3) you might think that you will have the leftovers later, so you'd rather not offer, in the event that actually happens.
However, if you decide to NOT share, your hungry friend may be bitter that you let perfectly good leftovers (from her mindset) go to waste.
this concept not only applies to food, but other aspects of life....and I'm wondering, is there an etiquette for handling this the topic of leftovers? I'd like to know.
