Subway Series

Today in my haste to get to the subway and get my redeye from the mud truck (www.mudnyc.com), I took a different entrance to the subway than normal. So I accidentally go down the “downtown” side and don’t realize it until I’ve already swiped my metro card. So, darn, I climb back up the stairs and go across the street to the uptown side. I swipe my card, but it says “Just Used.” Crap. SO I walk up to the subway person in the window (mind you these people do very little all day since everything is automated) and I explain my absentmindedness. She tells me with an attitude like that (huh -what attitude?!) she should make me wait the 18 minutes until my card is valid for transfer, all the while shaking her banana at me. I ask if she can help me out. She grumpily looks at me and with a mouthful of banana mush tells me to go use the gate she clicks open. Shheesh!
